Venue
The venue of SMMSO 2015 is the Domotel Xenia Volos Hotel in Volos, Greece.
Volos is the second largest city (with approximately 150,000 inhabitants) in the region of Thessaly, in Eastern Central Greece. It is located near ancient Iolkos (mythical hero Jason's hometown), in the inner most part of the Pagasitikos Bay (on the Aegean coast), at the foot of Mt. Pelion (the mountain of Centaurs in Greek mythology), a prefered tourist destination that combines mountain and sea activities. Volos is an industrial center and port and home of the University of Thessaly, which is organizing SMMSO 2015.

The Domotel Xenia Volos Hotel is located in a residential area on the sea front of Volos and is within walking distance to the center of town. The hotel was built in the 60’s as part of the ambitious “Xenia Hotels State Program” which was run by Greece’s National Organization of Tourism between 1950 and 1974. Several innovative Greek architects were called forth to work in the program, and many of the hotels built during that period, including the Xenia hotel in Volos, are examples of pioneering postwar modernism in Greece and form part of the architectural heritage of the country. The hotel was recently renovated and started operating again in 2006, offering upgraded services and convention center facilities.

Room sharing:
If you are interested in sharing a room, you should send an email to smmso2015@mie.uth.gr by March 1, 2015. You will then receive a list with all the participants that are interested in sharing a room (including yourself) so that you can contact each other for further arrangements.
